The main objective of JIP Bothnia Bulk is to create a more energy-efficient, low-emission and regular year-round supply chain of dry bulk cargo in the Baltic Sea, by increasing efficiency, reducing overall logistics costs and make raw material logistics more sustainable and environmentally friendly.
The JIP will upgrade the maritime link between the ports of Luleå (SE), Oxelösund (SE) and Raahe (FI) by introducing two new LNG-fuelled bulk carriers. The port's infrastructure and efficiency will be developed to remove bottlenecks of insufficient capacity to handle larger vessels in the ports. Availability of on-shore supply of power and LNG will be developed.
The project has received financial support from the European Union via the CEF Transport programme.
